SABO (Myoko sabo office)

Myoko sabo office located at south west area in Niigata prefecture. The office adminiatrates Joetsu city and Myoko city. Its administration area is 1,419kilometer square. This area has many landslides because of the fragile geology which mostly consists of sedimentary rock from 5 to 10 million years ago.

We construct sabo facilities to prevent debris runoff from devastated mountain area and Stabilize river cource for saving lives and properties from sediment related disasters.
We do volcanic area sabo works where Volcanic deposits are dominant.
The picture shows a permeable dam which traps huge rocks and drift wood when debris flows occur.

LANDSLIDE PREVENTION WORKS

In order to prevent landslide disasters and recover from them, we do landslide prevention works where houses and public facilities are in danger of landslides.
Landslides occur when the ground have much water because of continuous heavy rain or rapid snow melting. Removing of ground water is the most effective method to prevent landslides.

SLOPE FAILURE PREVENTION WORK

In order to prevent slope failure disasters caused by intensive heavy rain and earthquakes, we do slope failure prevention work.
The picture shows frame work. The slope failed by the earthquake on October 23th in 2004.

SNOW AVALANCHE PREVENTION WORK

We do snow avalanche prevention work to save lives from avalanche disasters.
The picture shows avalanche retarding frame work.

It blocks surface snow avalanche and makes its speed slow. Then the avalanche cannot reach residential area.
