Niigata Prefecture World Heritage Council

To promote the inscription of the Sado Island Gold Mines as a World Heritage Site as soon as possible and to pass on its value to future generations, the Niigata Prefecture World Heritage Inscription Promotion Council was established on February 9, 2014 to develop a public-private movement. The Council is a coalition organization in which each member makes voluntary efforts to the extent possible based on the action policy of presentation, publicity, conservation and propagation.

Activity Policy of the Council

Presentation

To make efforts to widely express support for the inscription of the Sado Gold and Silver Mines as a World Heritage Site

Examples: Adoption of resolutions to support World Heritage inscription, use of logos on business cards and envelopes and affixing stickers on commercial vehicles, etc.

Publicity

To engage in initiatives to publicize the value of the Sado Gold and Silver Mines

Examples: Putting up posters and leaflets to raise awareness, holding and participating in lectures and conducting research activities, etc.

Conservation

To strive to conserve the value of the Sado Gold and Silver Mines

Examples: Cleaning, mowing grass, removing materials dumped illegally around the component parts, etc.

Propagation

To strive to spread the above efforts throughout Japan and overseas

Examples: Expansion of initiatives from the Niigata branch (branch office) to the head office, etc.
